Dunblane Allotment Group (DAG) was formed in 2004 with the aim of re-opening the disused allotment site at the Laighills in Dunblane, Scotland. The sitewas used for allotments until the early 1980's when it fell into disuse and became derelict.Work by 3 volunteers began in November 2004 to reclaim the 60,000 square metre site. In January 2005, a Steering Committee was established and theDunblane Allotment Group was formally constituted in March 2005. THe plots are avalebill to the resadents of Dunblane. Ashfeild. Kinbuck. A full plot is approx. 16m x 10m , 16m x5m is a half plot, there are one or two smaller plots. There are 46 members, we also have areas set aside for bio diversity in which we have plants and a pond for wildlife. The aims of the DAG are as follows to;. Provide a sustainable approach to allotment gardening. Adopt organic methods of cultivation -- the only allotment group in Scotland to do this. Operate within a community development framework which is inclusive and encourages wide participation from the local community of people of all backgrounds and ages..Encourage biodiversity within the site..Educate the community about sustainability, biodiversity, organic cultivation.
