The first task was to clear the trees and scrub mainly consisting of Hawthorn, Willow, dog rose, and willow herb, giant hogweed.
The group applied and was awarded a grant which allowed us to proceed and the work was cared out by volunteers at weekends but a contractor was used to remove the large tree sumps and completed within six months. The next step was to apply for funding to provide a boundary fence and locking gates and paths
As there is no mains supply the water has to be pumped from the burn at the rear of the site and is stored in 8 x 1000 litre tanks. It is then fed to taps at different points on the site. The water was originally pumped with a 12v pump served from a solar panel but it couldn't supply enough water, we now use a petrol driven pump.
The plot were marked out and we now have 51 plot, a full plot is 16m x 10m . A half plot 16m x 5m. There are some smaller plots. We also have areas aside for bio diversity in which we have plants and a pond for wildlife
